I am Kevin Kotur. I read and write and I’m not afraid to use the first person in a bio. I work at a publishing company in Kansas City by day; by night I'm a creative writing MFA student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
I love nature and being in it: backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking. I am a compulsive collector of hobbies: tea connoisseur, amateur ceramic artist, mediocre electronic musician, debutant sommelier. I travel and share my interests and make people laugh. I want to hear what you have to say, and I want to say some things, too.
I hope that this website serves a few purposes: to entertain the viewer, to challenge me, and to engage with a decentralized community of thinkers and artists. It is comprised of three sections:
Creation. This is the literary or “creative” work. It may include—but is not limited to—creative non-fiction, poetry, photography, ceramics, collage, and interpretive dance.
Exploration. The pieces in this section could be lumped together and labeled travelogues, but it is my hope that they will amount to more than just musings and recollections of privileged experiences.
Conversation. This is a hodgepodge of essays, ripostes, analyses, reviews, and other miscellany. Feel free to participate, whether by commenting directly or by responding on a blog of your own.
